Venezuela’s Voice in Oregon, founded in March of 2014, started as the initiative of a small group of Venezuelans in Oregon. The organization has been growing steadily with the help of families, friends, and generous volunteers.
This organization aims to provide opportunities for connection, empowerment, cultural awareness, and leadership, for the Venezuelans residing in Oregon and their communities. Building and sustaining a strong community of Venezuelans in Oregon is a primary objective of this organization, especially since the unstable political and economic situation in Venezuela for the past several years has become a major barrier for Venezuelans in Oregon to go back to their country to raise their families and contribute to the well being of the nation. By helping this community to share its experiences, cultural heritage, language, strengths, struggles, and dreams, the organization hopes not only to create a strong community of Venezuelans in Oregon, but also to share the richness and beauty of Venezuela’s cultural heritage with the many other communities, which also call Oregon “home”. Venezuela’s Voice in Oregon is strongly committed to supporting the people living in Venezuela, through creative and peaceful initiatives that can bring positive change into their lives. |
